A Finnish national was among those injured in a deadly nightclub fire in Switzerland in the early hours of Thursday morning, Finland's foreign ministry has told Yle.
The information was confirmed to the ministry by local police. Officials have not commented on the severity of the person's injuries.
"The embassy in Bern has been in active contact with local authorities in Switzerland," said foreign ministry communications officer Timo Sysiö.
Finnish tabloid Ilta-Sanomat was the first to report that a Finn was among the injured.
Yle foreign correspondent Hanna Visala was at the scene in Crans-Montana, where the fire broke out at a restaurant in the ski resort. Most of the victims and injured were teenagers and young adults, and many families are still waiting for information about their loved ones.
"People are missing and many do not know whether their child or friend is alive. Identifying the victims is slow and difficult because of burn injuries," Visala said.
Around 40 people were killed and more than 100 injured in the fire, which broke out in the early hours of New Year's Day.
