Speaking to UK newspaper The Telegraph, Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said the Baltic states would repel any invasion by Moscow and then launch a devastating counter-attack on Russia.

Tsahkna told The Telegraph that Nato will launch strikes deep inside Russia if it dares to invade the Baltic states.

"We know exactly what to do," Tsahkna told the newspaper.

Article 5, Nato's mutual defence clause, outlines that an attack on one alliance member is considered an attack on all of its members.

The paper noted that the Baltic states have massively increased their defence spending.

"This is our plan because there is no other plan. We cannot let Russia into the Baltic States and [only] then fight back," the Estonian minister said.

Russia has stepped up its military buildup along its western frontier, including the border facing Finland.

The Baltic states have responded to the growing threat from Russia by raising defence spending to five to six percent of GDP.
