Coast Guard rescues injured seal stuck on ice in Gulf of Finland

The rescue took place off the southern coast of Finland on Saturday.

Members of the Finnish Coast Guard on Saturday rescued an injured white seal from sea ice off of Finland's southern coast, according to the Gulf of Finland Coast Guard District.

It said in a post on X that a patrol boat picked up the seal just south of Rönnskär island, and then transported the injured animal to the Porkkala Coast Guard Station.

The animal was then taken to the Korkeasaari Zoo Wildlife Hospital in Helsinki for further treatment.
