Sunny and warm weather is expected to continue across Finland this week, with temperature records for this spring likely to be broken on Tuesday, according to Yle meteorologist Elias Paakkanen.
The current record for 2026 was set in Ylivieska on Sunday, when the mercury climbed to 16.3 degrees Celsius.
In Lapland, temperatures of around 10–15 degrees are currently being recorded — levels more typical of May.
A strong high-pressure system will remain over Finland, although weak weather fronts are expected to reach southern and central parts of the country later in the week, increasing cloud cover.
"In cloudy areas, temperatures will fall to around nine degrees, while sunny areas will remain at 14 to 15 degrees," Paakkanen said.
Nights will stay cold under clear skies, with below-freezing temperatures forecast across southern and central Finland. As cloud cover increases, nighttime temperatures are expected to rise in those regions.
A wildfire warning remains in effect in southern and central Finland for the rest of this week.
