The Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final was held today in Vienna, Austria. Finland's representatives Linda Lampenius and Pete Parkkonen placed 6th with their song Liekinheitin.

The 2024 guidelines from the parliamentary Yle working group on Yle’s funding caused a change and cost-saving programme at Yle, continuing for several years. Yle aims to adapt its operations so that the company’s finances remain balanced in the coming years, despite the reduced net funding.

Yle's Contest for New Music UMK culminates on Saturday, February 28th with the UMK26 show, which will include former Eurovision star Sonja Lumme and her anthem Eläköön elämä as one of the interval acts, and Erika Vikman with a surprise guest as the opening act.

This season’s hosts of Finland’s biggest music show, Yle’s Contest for New Music UMK, are Sami Sykkö, Jorma Uotinen, and Yle’s Jasmin Beloued. The trio will take the stage at the UMK26 show on 28 February 2026, which can be watched internationally on Yle’s streaming platform Yle Areena.

The seven acts for Yle’s 2026 Contest for New Music UMK were announced today in a live broadcast. The UMK show on 28 February 2026 will feature Etta, Linda Lampenius & Pete Parkkonen, Komiat, Sinikka Monte, Antti Paalanen, CHACHI, and KIKI.

Yle prepares to participate in Eurovision Song Contest – broad Nordic support for Eurovision rule changes

Yle sets conditions for participating in Eurovision in the coming years

Yle's Management Group has decided on the conditions that must be met for the Finnish public service media to participate in Eurovision in the coming years. EBU member organizations are meeting today in Geneva to discuss the competition.

Finland’s biggest music show, the Contest for New Music (UMK) will bring the house down at Tampere’s Nokia Arena on 28 February, 2026. Tickets for the evening show and dress rehearsal will become available simultaneously on Thursday 2 October at 9 AM. Once again, a record number of songs (491) were submitted to UMK, and according to the juries, this year’s selection of artists and songs was of the expected high quality.

A New Season of the Contest for New Music (UMK) starts now – Song Submissions Open!

Finland’s biggest music show, the Contest for New Music (UMK), officially began today as the new season’s song submission period opened. The open song contest is looking for new artists and songs as well as Finland’s next Eurovision representative. The UMK26 application is open from August 18 to August 24, 2025.
